Document conventions
Convention | Explanation |

Viewpoint TM Licensing #
The Viewpoint License Management Facility (LMF) is a software mechanism inside the Viewpoint, which asserts compliance with some of the Viewpoint licensing terms. The Viewpoint LMF licenses will expire. Viewpoint administrators and Conduent Legal and Compliance Solutions must work together to ensure all aspects of the licensing process are monitored, updated and adhered to throughout the term of the license agreement.
The LMF controls the following elements of Viewpoint:
- License expiration date.
- Establishes access to Processing and Review components (for example, “Near Duplicate” functionality may be allowed or denied).
- Establish a maximum number of Viewpoint Workers.
- Establish a maximum number of OCR machines allowed.
- Establish a maximum number of simultaneous users logged into the Review application.
- Manage access to OmniPage OCR (Viewpoint Workers and Viewpoint PMC)
Managing Licenses#
Conduent Legal and Compliance Solutions generates the Viewpoint LMF license files. The Viewpoint applications will not function without a valid license file.
Viewpoint Processing will display a warning message at login when the license is nearing expiration. By default, the notification window is fifteen days (this is configurable upon request).
The LMF will require management on regular intervals depending upon the length of your license agreement with Conduent Legal and Compliance Solutions.
Applying License Files#
There are two license files; one for Viewpoint Processing and Workers, and one license file for Viewpoint Review. Both the licenses will be named as license.xml. Any attempt to modify the license file results in a non-functional application. The license file needs to be installed by the customer for each Viewpoint application.
Viewpoint Processing and Workers#
- Locate the IIS virtual folder which hosts your click-once deployment package for the PMC application.
- Place a copy of the Processing license file (license.xml) into the root PMC folder.
- Launch the Processing application (install it). If the license file has been installed correctly you will be shown a login dialog. If not you will be shown a license-specific error message.
- Locate the IIS virtual folder which hosts your click-once deployment package for the viewpoint Worker application.
- Place a copy of the Processing license file (license.xml) into the root Worker folder.
- Launch the Worker application (install it). You will be prompted to enter the name of the Server. If the license file has been installed correctly the Worker will continue to start as normal. Otherwise you will receive a license-specific error message.
Viewpoint Review – Click Once#
- Locate the IIS virtual folder which hosts your click-once deployment package for the Review application.
- Place a copy of the Review license file (license.xml) into the root Review folder.
- Launch Viewpoint Review (install it). If the license file is correctly installed you will be shown a login dialog. If not, you will be shown a license-specific error message.
Viewpoint Review - Executable#
- If your environment contains the Executable, as opposed to Click-Once instances of Viewpoint Review, then once the application has been installed, place the Review license file (license.xml) into folder <Program Files>\LateralData\Viewpoint\
- Launch Viewpoint Review. If the license file is correctly installed, a login dialog box appears, else a license-specific error message will be displayed.
