Viewpoint Viewers#

Viewpoint enable users to view documents in a variety of formats simultaneously within the application. The default ‘Doc Viewer’ mode displays the best rendering for each document type and supports keyword highlighting within the Review. Other viewer modes allow for viewing specific files associated with a document. The document viewer modes are accessed through the buttons at the top of the Viewpoint Viewer panel, as follows:

Doc Viewer#

  • The Doc Viewer displays the best rendering for each document type. Depending on the document type, the Doc Viewer will display native, HTML or text as the document type demands. For instance, Microsoft email messages (MSG) are displayed in HTML format. Microsoft Excel (XLS) and Microsoft Word (DOC) are displayed using a native renderer.
  • If the document has undergone redaction, then the redacted version of the document (the redacted TIFF) will appear in the Doc Viewer.

Note: The original TIFF is still viewable in the TIFF viewer.

  • The Doc Viewer supports limited keyword highlighting in Review when displaying Native or Text files, and advanced keyword highlighting when displaying HTML files.

Native Viewer#

  • The Native Viewer displays a native rendering of the file using Oracle Outside In Viewer®.
  • Supports limited keyword highlighting.

Text Viewer#

  • The Text Viewer displays the text file associated with a document.
  • Text files are generated for Delivery so they are viewable in the Review as well.
  • If a text file is created during processing then large files will load much faster in the Text Viewer compared to the Doc Viewer.
  • Text Viewer is useful for searching the metadata of an image file.
  • Supports limited keyword highlighting.

HTML Viewer#

  • The HTML Viewer displays the HTML file associated with a document.
  • If an HTML file is created during processing, then large files will load much faster in the HTML Viewer when compared to the Doc Viewer.
  • Supports advanced keyword highlighting in Review.
  • When highlighting keywords, it is recommended to use the HTML Viewer as it supports all advanced dtSearch requests; phrase, proximity, etc. (as opposed to the limited highlighting capabilities of the Native and Text Viewers).
  • The HTML Viewer should also be used to highlight keywords in imported documents which may not have associated native files.
  • The HTML Viewer is also the recommended Viewer for working with Bloomberg Chat files. With this Viewer, Reviewers can use checkboxes to filter chat files to display only user-selected participants, companies, or filters.

TIFF Viewer#

  • The TIFF Viewer displays the ‘clean’ TIFF file associated with a document. Redactions / Delivery branding are not shown in this viewer mode.
  • TIFF files may be pre-generated per source before review begins or may be launched in batch by selected View ID.

Production Image Viewer#

  • The Production Image Viewer displays the most recent version of the file produced during a Delivery (production) for this document. Images generated by Delivery can contain branding text.
  • The images displayed can be TIFF, PDF or JPG.

Production Text Viewer#

  • The Production Text Viewer displays the most recent version of the text produced during a Delivery (production) for this document. The text file produced during a Delivery may contain branding text.

Redaction Viewer#

  • Displays the redacted TIFF image associated with the document. If a redaction has not been applied to this document then the ‘clean’ TIFF is displayed.
  • The Redaction Viewer is used to perform image redactions.

Native Redaction Viewer#

  • Displays a natively redacted copy of the original file. If a redaction has not been applied to this document, then the original native file is displayed.
  • The Native Redaction Viewer is used natively redact .xls, .xlsx, .xlsb, and .csv files.
